When Ragtime was originally staged, it was the biggest musical ever produced; it even had a real car and real fireworks. It's a beautiful show, but we wanted to strip away the large production and bring it up close to the audience so they could feel the claustrophobia of that period in New York history. The audience entered an old pub in the Clapham neighborhood of London where the show took place around them.

Ragtime was nominated for many awards in the 2011 London theatre season. Years later, it is still mentioned in the press as an example of how with smaller "big" musicals, the audience gets a much better understanding of the story
